Bangalore's lakes are being killed. But nature, being resilient, given the slightest chance it bounces back, and some of Bangalore lakes are wonderful examples of this. Usually, the city decides to build a big "garden" around lakes, which means manicured lawns, paved paths, lots of flowers & trees that don't usually grow in wet lands. This usually ends up killing the lakes slowly.
Our project proposal is focused on healing the wetland of the site and proposing an Architecture which is majestic to be fitting the 100 glorious Years of KSRP. At the same time the building sits very softly on the site, using all the five elements of Nature—Air , Earth ,Water, Fire(Sun), and space. Stabilized mud construction with waste from different projects sites of Police Housing Corporation was chosen to be the main construction material for the project. Roofs to be double curve shell ferro-crete or bamboo-crete roofs bringing in natural light to the interiors with BIPV (Building integrated Photo Voltaic cells).
